Description:

Designated Duties gives those undertaking designated security duties on board ship, the essential education and training meeting the Knowledge, Understanding and Proficiency requirements set out in the following STCW table, which supprts Chapter XI-2 of the annex to the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) 1974, as amended and the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code.

 

Function: Ship Security Competence:

  •  Maintain the conditions set out in a ship security plan
  • Recognition of security risks and threats

  • Undertake regular security inspections of the ship

  • Proper usage of security equipment and systems, if any

There is no intake restriction although some sea going experience would be an advantage

 

Special Notes:

Learners or booking companies MUST ensure that one of the below forms of personal identification is available to be presented at course registration:

  • Passport
  • Discharge Book (or equivalent National document recording a person's sea service)
  • National I.D. Card
