Description:

Fire Fighting Advanced is an element of the STCW training course for higher ranked personal. Please note this is not a requirment of the basic STCW training course.

Learners will be trained in all principles of shipboard fire fighting emergencies. Additionally they will receive all the necessary skills required to train others in the procedures to be adopted in the use of equipment provided to bring a fire on-board ship to a safe and controlled conclusion. The course is structured around a number of practical searches, rescue techniques, casualty evacuation practices and fire exercises.

Learner pre-requisites:

• Officers must meet the criteria laid down by the Merchant Navy Training Board regarding a Basic Fire Course.
• The Officer must be fit and appear to be in good health

Special Notes:

Learners or booking companies MUST ensure that one of the below forms of personal identification is available to be presented at course registration:

• Passport
• Discharge Book (or equivalent National document recording a person's sea service)
• National I.D. Card
